Half Way To Gone by Kalya Nduati

she's ready,

count to three, one take a deep breath

two, washes down each bitter star as she                        Sinks into the void.                                                        three, but there is no three only a breathless she who's done the unspeakable. She's Gone.

Darkness took her, cold and numb                               Where time unravelled and lips went numb              A weight less drift,it’s all over now-but something's wrong,a tether snapped

she's not really gone.only halfway

Eyes peel open, sterile white                                           no no it was not supposed to be this way.        What's done should not be undone.                   Only silence to carve out her shell.

Her hands are lead, her ribs are sore.                      The world outside still waging war                             She lost?she won?what's left to say                           She lingers where the half dead stay.

Her Shackles still worn                                          Same time, same place                                                 She avoids the the nurses pity                                                  Her mothers voice,a fathers haze

'Awake..She's awake' the same pity nurse calls.

as if  it's a miracle or grace that night tried to take her but morning could not let her go. And maybe she is lucky, maybe she's thankful.              And we won't know the stories not over not even near it's end.
