Broken Songs by an Anonymous Author

In this tiny room where quiet breaths reside
I hum a soft refrain of you and I

Lights down low I see her silhouette
A shadow stitched with every wish I kept

I done sang your name so many times my breath smells like you
and every line tastes of you, sweet sour yet true

Sometimes I try to forget but I just can’t
Your echo lingers in the corners of my chest
So I hold gently these aching chords, and hum our fate
Fractured melodies that will still be sung whole
